I’m sure that most of you will have heard the good news for us all that tennis activity, singles only, unless you’re all from the same household, in which doubles is ok, can be played from, Wednesday 13th May.

In order to maintain a safe environment for all members please be aware of the following:

  • Hand sanitiser dispensers have been fitted to the left of the main entrance and in the coach’s room.
  • All benches have been removed from the courts and the picnic tables turned upside down to prevent the spread of germs on hard surfaces.
  • The clubhouse remains out of use but the coach’s room can be used to access a toilet, hand sanitiser, anti- bacterial wipes and nitrile gloves. 2 new combination locks have now been put onto the coach’s room door so there’s no need for a key.
  • To minimise the number of members at the courts at any one time we are asking where possible that you book the courts using the online booking system, on Clubspark, https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/WinstanleyTennisClub.  You must register with Clubspark to use the system and subsequently log in using the same details and platform that you used when you initially registered. I have set it up so that you can book 7 days in advance and make 5 bookings in any 7 day period up to 2 hours at a time. If you have any problems either email or text me 07940 829864 and I will try to sort it out. If you are unable to use Clubspark it’s ok to turn up at the courts but please be aware that members who have pre-booked will have priority. It may well turn out that there is not a rush to use the courts but we have to be prepared.
  • Avoid shaking hands.
  • Observe social distancing, keeping 2 metres apart and do not to stay longer than necessary around the clubhouse or on the car park.
  • Observe the new signs that have been put up around the club to help to keep you safe.
  • If you are showing any symptoms of Covid – 19 please keep away from the club and follow the public health guidance on self- isolating.
  • As we requested before the lockdown, please provide your own balls rather than sharing the balls from the coach’s room. However, as a gesture of goodwill the committee is intending to give a tin of new balls to every adult member. These will be available in the coach’s room with your name on as soon as we have the new balls.  Your membership card will also be with your tin of balls.
  • Balls: with regard to not sharing equipment please make sure you have your own balls, clearly marked as yours. Also, players should pick up by hand only their own balls, i.e. serve using only their own balls, return others to opponent by ‘side of shoe’ onto racket.
  • Nets: these should be left up at the end of play so that there is no need to touch the winders and ropes.
  • As one of a very few sports that can be played at the moment, I have had a few enquiries about friends and non-family members coming along to play as visitors. Visitors’ fees are £5 per visit for adults and £2.50 per visit for juniors. Ideally payment should be made into the club’s bank account: Sort Code 40-46-32, Account Number 82064049, with the reference Visitor and the member’s surname and this payment should be paid prior to playing. Alternatively place the money in an envelope with the member’s name and the amount and post it into the letter box by the clubhouse front door again before playing. The post box is checked every couple of days. Should the visitor wish to join at a later date then all visitors’ fees that have been paid will be deducted from their membership subscription.
  • All we need now is for the sun to shine for the next 5 months

Stay safe and enjoy your tennis!…Ros (on behalf of the committee)

PS – Please be aware that the above measures have been put in place by the committee using the current advice available but any further guidance and/or advice from the LTA  and /or Tennis Lancashire will be circulated as soon as it is received.
