Membership
Winstanley Tennis Club is constituted as a ‘Members’ Club’, which just means that we have Club Rules for all to abide by and that all Members belong to the Club on an equal footing (click on the button at the foot of this page to access the Rules/Club Constitution).
We operate a very open and flexible approach to membership; we are always ready to welcome new players to the Club and to develop our membership base.
Before joining, Adults interested in becoming Members may have a free session at the Club to see if they like what we have to offer before making the commitment to join; they are allowed to come as Visitors for a small fee per visit up to 5 times before being required to pay a membership subscription, which will be reduced by the total amount they will have paid as visitors. We also offer discounts to new Members in their first year, depending on when they join and according to special offers which apply particularly on Club ‘Open Days’.
When joining, Adults are able to choose from a variety of membership options according to their preferences, as described in the current subscription table below. Discounted rates are available in some circumstances, e.g. for those of state pension age. Members may change from one type of membership to another as their circumstances and interests alter and so you could start, for example, as a U3A player, subsequently decide that you want to play more frequently and then move to weekday membership.
For Juniors, membership is related primarily to age; we have:
Under 13s membership, with special coaching and tournament sessions available mainly at weekends;
13-18 and 18-23 years membership (different prices apply) – opportunities to compete in local Leagues and unrestricted access to the courts most of the time throughout the year. A Student Summer Holiday membership (July-September inclusive) is also available.
The Club is very keen to encourage Junior development and to provide opportunities for Junior players to participate in Adult competition and teams.
In addition to membership of our Club we are keen to promote British Tennis Membership (BTM), an initiative of the Lawn Tennis Association to get more people involved with our sport, whether as players, parents or simply fans.
As Members of a Club ‘registered’ with the LTA, such as ours, BTM is free – you are given a BTM number and tennis ‘rating’ and other benefits such as discounts on major tennis events and with retail partners, a monthly e-newsletter and the like. The big bonus of the BTM is that you can opt in for Wimbledon tickets and also have your match results from competitions recorded with the LTA so as to improve your tennis rating; in turn BTM statistics help the Club raise its profile with the LTA and in general within our sport. Applying for BTM membership is straightforward and our Membership Secretary, Lynne Evans, can do this with or for you.
Membership Options and Subscription Fees for 2026 are set out below; our membership year is from 1st April until 31st March and includes use of tennis balls provided by the Club during the main summer season.

Family Membership

Two options when all children are in the Junior under 13 category and are members of the same family (this offer is only available where a parent wants to chaperone their child/children) : Option One – 2 Adult and unlimited children – Cost is 20% reduction of the above prices (e.g. two adults with two children would normally pay £100 and with the 20% discount would pay £80 under this offer or would save more depending on the number of children). Option Two – 1 Adult and unlimited children – Cost is 20% reduction of the above prices (e.g. one adult with two children would normally pay £70 and with the 20% discount would pay £56 under this offer or would save more depending on the number of children).
