Following on from the Government’s announcements earlier in the week and the subsequent LTA and WDLTA advice / suspension of activity

(see here https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19—latest-advice/)( https://www.wdlta.com/)

Please be aware that further updates are available on the LTA website on a daily/regular basis.

The following information and guidance comes in with immediate effect:

Due to the Government’s social distancing recommendations, the following Club activities are cancelled with immediate and ongoing effect:

  • The practice nights will not be going ahead in any kind of organised capacity,
  • The Sunday tournaments will be postponed until further notice
  • The Quiz Night 24th April is postponed
  • The planned Open Day, 26th April is postponed.
  • Warrington League matches will NOT now start on 14th April

Robin will continue to offer coaching on Wednesday and Saturday for the time being. This will be at his and his clients’ own risk/discretion.

On the basis that fresh air and exercise will be important over the coming weeks and until the Government bans all non-essential activities outside the home, Members are free to continue to arrange their own private games, at their own risk/discretion. The communal tennis balls in the Coach’s Room have been removed and members must provide their own balls for their games/ matches. This is to prevent as far as is possible tennis balls becoming a route of virus transmission.

THE CLUBHOUSE BUILDING IS NOT TO BE USED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The Club has provided hand wash, soap and paper towels, nitrile gloves and antibacterial wipes in the Coach’s Room where toilet facilities are also available.

ands should be washed immediately before matches and immediately after matches using the facilities available in the coach’s room.

Members should refrain from shaking hands and talking in close proximity to other players. Please avoid touching your faces during matches due to potential virus transmission via the tennis balls.

As a courtesy to your fellow Members, and their families and loved ones, you should follow all government advice and not visit or play tennis at the club if you are exhibiting any of the following potential Coronavirus symptoms, such as a fever, coughing, sore throat or general un-wellness. This is because the Government is trying to slow the inevitable transmission of the virus so that the NHS is not overwhelmed in the short term and meaning that lifesaving care can be provided to ALL those who need it, when they need it.

During this time, please take time to check up on your fellow Club Members, who may need some help and support over the coming weeks.

We will forward any further information as soon as we get it and we look forward to resuming all normal Club activities as soon as possible.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding at this challenging time.

Ros (on behalf of the committee)
