UPDATE – this stamina-busting day of continuous tennis was a great success, £800 being raised through donations and sponsorships of those turning out to play; well-done and thanks to all who participated in the fund-raising event in whatever way.
Ann Marie Sandelands, Ros Smith and Sue Preston are shown here presenting Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser for Wigan & Leigh Hospice with a cheque for the £800 raised.

Reminder!! – 12 hour tennis fundraiser for Wigan and Leigh Hospice this Sunday 15th August 9am – 9pm
If you have any free time this Sunday please consider coming to the club to play some tennis or table tennis (or just to watch others and have a chat) and help raise some much needed funds for our local hospice. You’ll receive a very warm welcome, plenty of biscuits and might even win a few prizes!!!
All members: adults, juniors, U3A, chaperones and families are most welcome. You can also bring along friends/guests, no visitor’s fee, instead a donation to the charity would be greatly appreciated.
Court 6 has now been fully booked from 9am to 9pm so we will definitely have continuous play for 12 hours, that’s a great start!!
We would love to see lots of people playing on the other courts so please just arrange to play with someone and book a court following the usual process, even if it’s just for 30 minutes.
Another option is to come and join in our “social mix in” session anytime from 1 – 4pm. You don’t need a partner, just turn up and play some doubles, very informal and friendly and a great way to meet other members.
Fundraising will be via a “donations bucket” on the day so please remember to bring a bit of cash with you!!
Please support this special event if you can.
See you on Sunday!

We’re holding a charity fundraising event on Sunday 15th August. The aim is to have continuous play on at least one court from 9am until 9pm. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to play for 12 hours!) Court 6 will be the main designated court and can be booked for a minimum of 30 minutes or a maximum of 2 hours. Please email to book your slot and your name will be added onto the booking sheet. If court 6 is not available for your preferred time please just book any other free court as usual. Start booking with me straightaway to guarantee your preferred time!
There will also be a “social mix in” session on the same afternoon from 1.00 – 4.00 on courts 1 – 3, following the usual format of everyone mixing in and changing partners to play doubles, very informal and friendly.
We’re also hoping to have the added option of playing table tennis in the clubhouse.
Fundraising will be via a “donations bucket” on the day. Money raised will be given to Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
All members: adults, juniors, U3A, chaperones and families are very welcome to take part and friends/guests are also welcome but rather than paying a visitor fee we would prefer a donation to the charity. Please support this special event if you can.
